There is only one drawback in doing this, and that is that the option is reciprocal: if you deactivate the blue ticks so as not to notify others when you read the received messages, you also lose the opportunity to see the blue ticks of the others and, therefore, know when they read the messages that are sent to them. If a user decides not to notify others when they read the messages sent to them, all they have to do is access the WhatsApp settings and deselect an option. Why did this happened? Because the function related to the reading receipt (as the blue marks are technically called) is optional and can be deactivated in the WhatsApp settings. Well, in some cases it happens that the double blue check is not present, although the recipient actually has the message that was delivered. If you have read my tutorial on how WhatsApp works or, in any case, you are a little familiar with the application in question, you will surely know that it marks messages in chats with check marks : a single mark means that the message has reached the WhatsApp servers but has not yet arrived to the device of the recipient double verification means that the message has been delivered to the recipient but has not yet been read, while blue double verification means that the message has been received and read by the recipient.
